"Go Team Venture" Venture Bros Art Book to be released in April 2018

imageedit_4_2041589144-thumb-500x667-574480Publisher Dark Horse will release the deluxe hard cover art book Go Team Venture!: The Art and Making of The Venture Bros., a comprehensive behind-the-scenes look at the Adult Swim fan-favorite. Written by journalist Ken Plume in conversation with series executive producers Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer—and featuring an introduction from Wonder Boy himself, Patton Oswalt—Go Team Venture! spans the entire history of the show, from early concept sketches to future teases.

“The Venture Brothers is one of those shows, like Archer, 30 Rock , and Arrested Development , that stands up to repeated viewings,” said Oswalt. “It practically demands them. And this book more than enriches your repeated visits.”

“Go Team Venture!: The Art and Making of The Venture Bros. hardcover hits the shelves 0n July 18 2018.

JGT's Great Learning Orchestra commission live

GLO Orangeri webJG Thirlwell has been commissioned by Great Learning Orchestra to create a 45 minute large scale compositon, which will be performed live on March 15 2017 at Sodra Teatern in Stockholm. CM Von Hausswolff will open the evening with a solo set.

The Great Learning Orchestra is a collective of over one hundred musicians based in Stockholm, though the version of GLO that will perform with JG will be about 35 players in number. Great Learning Orchestra‘s model is based on that of Cornelius Cardew‘s Scratch Orchestra, combining musicians of varying abilities, from virtuosos to sound-makers. Their objective is to meet up to explore music with listening in the center. They work extensively with graphic, instructional and unconventional scores and the ensemble has a fluctuating size and instrumentation depending on the piece they are performing. JG Thirlwell has already created two graphic scores for GLO and has conducted workshops with them.

This is a second remix of “Motherfucker” completely different to the one by JG Thirlwell was issued previously.
The single is available as a limited edition colored vinyl 7″ available in all Mom & Pop Record Stores. There is also limited stock available direct from FNM USA  and from Ipecac Records.

JGT guest vocalizes with Tredici Bacci

tredici-bacci-gunTredici Bacci is the project of musician and composer Simon Hanes that channels his love of ’60s/’70s soundtrack music, tipping his hat especially to Italy and the likes of Ennio Morricone and Bruno Nicolai. The group’s new album, Amore Per Tutti, is out November 11 via NNA Tapes, and it contains the song “Give Him the Gun” which features special guest lead vocals from JG Thirlwell.

Archer wins an Emmy

txkno50o0kgxd0erdarvArcher, the animated satire which is scored by JG Thirlwell, has picked up its first Outstanding Animated Series Emmy on its third consecutive nomination in the category. The episode that clinched the trophy was “The Figgis Agency” , the first episode of Season Seven. Archer edged out stiff competition from last year’s winner Bob’s Burgers, as well as veterans The Simpsons, South Park and the wrapped Phineas and Ferb for the Emmy.

Venture Bros. Season 6 on DVD and Blu-ray

venture-bros-poster-patrick-ledgerAdult Swim has announced that The Venture Bros. Season 6 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 4, 2016. The season features new musical score from JG Thirlwell throughout.

The cult hit series from creator Jackson Publick (The Tick) scored No. 1 rankings among adults and men 18-24, 18-34 and 18-49 for its timeslot when the hotly anticipated sixth season first aired earlier this year, after a 2 ½ year hiatus.

The home entertainment release contains all eight epic episodes from season six, plus the new-to-disc 2015 All This and Gargantua-2 45-minute special. Thirlwell’s musical score for this special was nominated for an Annie Award, the highest accolade in the field of animation.

Episodes included are: “Hostile Makeover,” “Maybe No Go,” “Faking Miracles,” “Rapacity in Blue,” “Tanks for Nuthin’,” “It Happening One Night,” “A Party for Tarzan” , “Red Means Stop” plus “All This and Gargantua-2“. Bonus material includes commentaries for every episode and deleted scenes.

Thirlwell creates score for Polish surveillance camera

Acoustic Cameras, masterminded by Pierre Beloüin of Optical Sound, invites composers and sound artists to access webcams and surveillance cameras located around the world in real time. JG has scored a camera which is trained on a fluorescent light in Rzeszów, Poland.
