Scala is a documentary about the legendary London repertory cinema. JG Thirlwell spent a lot of time there when he lived in London in the late 70s and early 80s. Thirlwell, who appears in the documentary, will be joining co-director Ali Catterall and co-director & former Scala film programmer Jane Giles for a Q and A after the screening of the film at Metrograph in NYC on July 21 2024.

Senstad’s ‘The Vanity of Vanities’, with JGT score, screens on Athens
Anne Senstad‘s film “The Vanity of Vanities”, which includes a score by JG Thirlwell, will be screening at IFAC in Athens, Greece on July 20 2024 as part of IFAC’s video art night screening as tribute to Bill Viola.
JG Thirlwell graphic artwork in Cultural Olympiad exhibition
JG Thirlwell has a piece of artwork in a temporary exhibition called Cultural Olympiad by Paris 2024. It is on display at the Château de Montsoreau – Museum of Contemporary Art, from June 15 to August 11, 2024.
For this exhibition, each country will be represented by an artist, selected by a committee made up of actors from the art world according to predefined regulations. JG Thirlwell represents Australia. All works are black and white and A4 format.

JG Thirlwell’s ‘In Memoriam’ audio installation in Gotland 2024
in Summer 2024, Tonsättarcentrum in Gotland, together with Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm have installed JG Thirlwell‘s audio installation piece “In Memoriam” at the Tingstäde Fortress just north of Visby in Gotland. The installation will be up until August 13 2024, and is part of the Elektronmusikstudion 60th anniversary celebration.

JG Thirlwell appears in Lydia Lunch / Jasmine Hirst documentary
Lydia Lunch and Jasmine Hirst‘s have produced and directed the film “Artists: Depression, Anxiety and Rage”, which is screening at varios festivals and special events.
The film features comments and interviews from Shirley Manson, Jerry Stahl, JG Thirlwell, Joseph Keckler, Adele Bertei, Weasel Walter, Eugene Robinson, Thor Harris , Kid Congo Powers and many more.

JG Thirlwell will appear at a musical tribute to legendary NYC group Suicide at Bowery Electric on June 20 2024. Also appearing are Martin Rev (Suicide), Eugene Hutz (Gogol Bordello), Devon Ross, Rocky O’Riordan (The Pogues), Hether Fortune (Wax Idols) , Puzzled Panther, Liz Lamere, Eric Davidson (New Bomb Turks), LG Galleon (Dead Leaf Echo), Peter Gordon, Emilie Simon, Maria Lina, Johann Rashid, Justin Strauss, Cynthia Ross and Zachary Allan Starkey. JG Thirlwell’s Archer Soundtrack Volume 1 Finally Released!
Archer Volume 1 is the long-awaited soundtrack album of JG Thirlwell‘s scores for the animated FX series Archer. Thirlwell created the musical score for seasons 7-14 of the series, from 2015-2023.
The album comprises 27 tracks and is drawn from seasons 7-9 of the show. There are 30 tracks on the digital version. The record is released on maraschino red vinyl. Apart from the theme song, Thirlwell performed and produced everything on the album with guest appearances by Marty Ehrlich, Matt Nelson, Steven Bernstein and Simon Hanes
Thirlwell joined the show on season 7 and was able to expand and build on the Archer universe with his musical stylings. The show won an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Animated Program for season 7. You can buy the album on vinyl or digitally here. You can listen to previews here in the mp3 tab.

JGThirlwell has contributed four pages of exclusive new graphics for the new edition of Pioneer Zine. This issue was curated by Bob Bert (Pussy Galore, Sonic Youth, Chrome Cranks etc) and features contributions by JG Thirlwell as well as Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Lydia Lunch , Jasmine Hirst, Reuben Radding and Mark C. New Tredici Bacci album featuring JG Thirlwell contributions
The new Tredici Bacci album ‘Brave New World‘ will be released on March 31 2024. JG Thirlwell co-writes the music on two tracks, ‘Galaxia‘ and ‘Brave New World’, with long-time collaborator (and Bacci band leader) Simon Hanes. Thirlwell also wrote the lyrics on ‘Brave New World’. In addition, Tredici Bacci covers the Foetus classic ‘I Hate You All’, which features a lead vocal performance by JG Thirlwell.
