The new Tredici Bacci album ‘Brave New World‘ will be released on March 31 2024. JG Thirlwell co-writes the music on two tracks, ‘Galaxia‘ and ‘Brave New World’, with long-time collaborator (and Bacci band leader) Simon Hanes. Thirlwell also wrote the lyrics on ‘Brave New World’. In addition, Tredici Bacci covers the Foetus classic ‘I Hate You All’, which features a lead vocal performance by JG Thirlwell.

Xordox live in NYC 11.30.22
JG Thirlwell’s Xordox will be performing on NYC on November 30 2022 at TV Eye in Ridgewood, Queens. Xordox will be performing material from the albums Omniverse and Neospection. For this iteration of Xordox, JGT will be joined by long-time ally Simon Hanes (Tredici Bacci), with sensational visuals from Sten Backman. JG Thirlwell + Ensemble at Bang On A Can Long Play Festival
JG Thirlwell + Ensemble will be performing as part of the Bang On A Can Long Play Festival on May 1 2022 at Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn. The Festival runs from April 29-May 1 2022 and will feature 60 concerts over three days at in eight different venues in Downtown Brooklyn. There will be performances by Attaca Quartet, Ashley Bathgate, Balún, Joan La Barbara, Kelly Moran, Matmos, Sun Ra Arkestra, Tristan Perich, Dither & Lee Ranaldo and many more, and works by Anthony Braxton, Arvo Pärt, John Luther Adams, Terry Riley, David Lang, Eliane Radigue, Galina Ustvolskaya, Robert Ashley, Ornette Coleman, Brian Eno, Julia Wolfe and more.
JG Thirlwell + Ensemble play chamber versions of some Foetus repertoire and will be premiering two new arrangements for the show. With Evan Allen on piano and accordion, Leah Asher on violin and viola, Rebecca El-Saleh on harp, Simon Hanes on acoustic guitar and bass guitar, Pete Moffett on percussion and JG Thirlwell on vocals.

JG Thirlwell scores new animated series “Dicktown”
JG Thirlwell has scored the new animated short-form series Dicktown, which airs as part of the live-action/animated hybrid anthology TV series Cake! on FXX. The show premiered on July 9 2020. You can also see it streaming on Hulu.
Dicktown was created by John Hodgman and David Rees, who wrote and star in the series as themselves. Hodgman plays “a grown up boy detective and David is my former high school bully turned partner.” Hodgman is an author who is well known for his appearances on The Daily Show and elsewhere. The show was produced by Floyd County Productions.
Thirlwell produced and performed the noir score at his Self Immolation Studio in Brooklyn, with contributions from guest musicians Pete Moffett on drums and Simon Hanes on guitar.
JG Thirlwell + Ensemble performs in London
JG Thirlwell + Ensemble will be performing at St Pancras Church in London on April 18 2020.
JG Thirlwell + Ensemble is a chamber group project initiated by Thirlwell in 2018. JG rearranged several pieces from the Foetus repertoire and one Wiseblood song with long time collaborator Simon Hanes (Tredici Bacci) for the instrumentation of harp, piano, viola, acoustic guitar/bass and drums. In February of 2019 they played two sold-out shows at National Sawdust in NYC.
The London iteration of the ensemble will include Manorexia alumni Angharad Davies (viola, violin), Tim Parkinson (piano) and Adam Morris (percussion) along with Thirlwell and Hanes. Tickets are available here

Thirlwell commission premieres at Ditherfrest
JG Thirlwell has been commissioned to create a new composition for new music guitar quartet Dither. It will premiere at the 2019 edition of Dither’s Extravaganza, a ‘raucous festival of creative music and art’. The event will occur at 17 Frost Theater of the Arts in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Sunday October 27 from 2pm – 9pm.
Along with the world premiere of JG Thirlwell’s new prepared guitar piece for Dither entitled ‘Feather Mask‘, the day long concert will feature Mezzo-soprano Alicia Hall Moran, Mivos Quartet,Yva Las Vegass, Naeemah Z Maddox, Ryan Power, Tredici Bacci, Gyan Riley‘s Elixir featuring Taylor Levine, David Cossin & Greg Chudzik, Shelley Washington, an electronics/noise duo from Paula Matthusen & Philip White plus Jim Fletcher (Wooster Group/Elevator Repair Service/New York City Players) joining music/theater duo James Moore & Andie Tanning

The new video from Tredici Bacci is “Felicity Grows”, a song was written by JG Thirlwell and Tredici Bacci leader Simon Hanes. The video was directed by Hanes and Chris Shields, who also served as director of photography. Simon Hanes is a frequent collaborator of Thirlwell, and they have written many songs together for the female voice – this is the first one to see the light of day. It’s featured on the excellent new Tredici Bacci album, La Fine Del Futuro, on NNA Tapes. The album also features a version of the ancient hymn ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel’ reinterpreted in the style of a Morricone-ish gunfighter ballad and sung by Thirlwell. JG Thirlwell + Ensemble at National Sawdust
In 2018, JG Thirlwell + Ensemble debuted with two songs at a private gala mounted by The Kitchen which honored Lydia Lunch and Nan Goldin. Now expanded to a full set, the project will make it’s public debut with a performance at National Sawdust in Brooklyn at 7.30 pm on February 28 and March 1 2019.
The repertoire will draw from Thirlwell’s Foetus and Wiseblood projects, including staples such as ‘I’ll Meet You In Poland, Baby’, ‘Throne Of Agony’ and ‘Someone Drowned in My Pool’, as well as never performed works ‘Here Comes The Rain’ and ‘Not Adam’, plus some new songs written by Thirlwell and Simon Hanes of Tredici Bacci. The new chamber arrangements of the material were created by Thirlwell and Hanes, for the instrumentation of harp, viola, piano, acoustic guitar and voice.

JGT guest on Simon Hanes’ Stone week
JG Thirlwell will be guesting on two evenings of Simon Hanes‘ residency at The Stone in NYC, which runs from Nov 6-10 2018.
Thirlwell will appear with Hanes’ 13 piece ensemble Tredici Bacci on Nov 9, where they will perform their entire new album. Thirlwell will perform the song he sings on that album, a version of the ancient hymn ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel‘. In addition Tredici Bacci will perform two songs that were co-written by Thirlwell and Hanes.
On Nov 10, Tredici Bacci will swell to an 18 piece and they will perform a version of the Thirlwell composition ‘I Hate You All’, with Thirlwell on vocals. This song originally appeared on the Foetus album Damp. Jennifer Charles of Elysian Fields will also guest vocalize on this evening. The evening falls on the occasion of Ennio Morricone‘s 89th birthday, a man who has been extremely influential on Hanes.
Thirlwell and Hanes have an extremely productive working relationship over the last several years. Thirlwell has been a regular guest and contributor to Hanes’ Tredici Bacci projecty. Thirlwell has had Hanes play some keyboards and guitar on select cues in his work on the scores for Archer and Venture Bros. Hanes has been guest keyboard played on the recent Xordox live dates.In addition the two have forged a writing relationship and have penned a dozen songs for the female voice.
Xordox performs at Adult Swim Festival in Los Angeles
Xordox will perform on October 6 2018 at the inaugural Adult Swim Music Festival in Los Angeles . The Festival stretches over then weekend of October 6 and 7, and includes performances by Run The Jewels, Zola Jesus, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Dan Deacon, T-Pain, Big Freedia, Mastodon, Com Truise, High On Fire and many more. For this iteration of Xordox, Thirlwell will be joined by long-time musical collaborator Simon Hanes (of Tredici Bacci) on additional keyboards.
