We are excited to announce that JG Thirlwell will be presenting his surround sound Silver Mantis project at the Melbourne Recital Center in Australia on Thursday September 28, 2023.
Silver Mantis is a 50 minute live surround-sound electro-acoustic presentation, performed with keyboards, prepared piano and theremin. It is performed with a projection created exclusively for the project by acclaimed Swedish visual artist Sten Backman. Tickets are available here
JG Thirlwell’s ‘Dystonia’ string quartet album on Cantaloupe Music
JG Thirlwell‘s Dystonia album will be released by Cantaloupe Music on May 19, 2023, on CD and digitally. You can order the album on Bandcamp here.
‘Dystonia’ is an album of JG Thirlwell’s string quartet compositions performed by Mivos Quartet. Recording took place at Shiny Things Studio in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn with Mike Tierney recording and engineering.The sleeve notes were written by composer Michael Gordon.
There will be an concert of Mivos Quartet performing the album to celebrate the album’s release at National Sawdust in Brooklyn NY on May 16 2023. You can buy tickets to the concert here

The Colchester Arts Centre is located at Church Street, Colchester in Essex

freq_spark sound art project launches 03.31.23
freq_spark (four corners) is a new collective sound work curated by CM Von Hausswolff, consisting of audio pieces inspired by fire and deforestation by 48 sound artists and composers. It is a new iteration of the freq_out project that began in 2002. It will be presented as a composition of four digital sound mixers as an interactive installation. freq_spark can be accessed and operated on the internet at http://bilting.se/freq_spark/

JG Thirlwell + Ensemble play in London
We are thrilled to announce that JG Thirlwell + Ensemble will be performing on August 12 2023 at Bush Hall in London.
JG Thirlwell + Ensemble performs re-imagined chamber versions of songs from the Foetus canon and beyond. The instrumentation is harp, piano, viola/violin, acoustic guitar/bass, percussion and voice.
For the UK premiere of the project, the ensemble will feature Angharad Davies on violin, Tim Parkinson on piano, Emilia Agajew on harp, Simon Hanes (Tredici Bacci) on acoustic guitar and bass and Adam Morris on drums and percussion.Tickets are available here. Photo by Daniel Efram

Anne Senstad‘s light installation POIESIS opens at Regelbau 411 in Thyholm, Denmark on February 11 2023. The accompanying sound composition was created by JG Thirlwell . The exhibition runs until May 21 2023. More information here.

JG Thirlwell’s Archer Soundtrack Vol 1 due in 2023
The long-awaited soundtrack album of JG Thirlwell‘s scores for the animated series Archer will finally be released in 2024 via iam8bit/DMG.
The album comprises 27 tracks and is drawn from seasons 7-9 of the show. It will be released on maraschino red vinyl.
Thirlwell joined the show on season 7 and was able to expand and build on the Archer universe with his musical stylings. The show won an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Animated Program for season 7.

Alarm Will Sound premieres new commission by JG Thirlwell
Alarm Will Sound is a 20-member chamber orchestra that focuses on recordings and performances of contemporary classical music. They have commissioned JG Thirlwell to create a long form composition. The result is a 40 minute piece entitled ‘Execution’.
‘Execution’ comprises four movements : ‘Retribution’, ‘Evolution’, ‘Involution’ and ‘Devolution’.
It will premiere at the Sinquefield Music Center at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO on January 17 2023. At the same concert, Alarm Will Sound will also perform pieces by Jlin, Daniel Wohl and Chris Thompson.
