We are thrilled to announce the release of the long awaited Soft Cell x JG Thirlwell Ghost Rider Remix EP. The EP consists of three brand new and radically different remixes of the Soft Cell / JG Thirlwell version of the Suicide song “Ghost Rider”. including the Accelerator Mix, Brake Caliper Mix and Camshaft Mix,as well as instrumentals of the Accelerator and Camshaft mixes. The song features vocals from both Marc Almond and Thirlwell, with guest sax from Gary Barnacle. It was mastered by Josh Bonati.
It is a strictly limited edition on blood red and black swirly vinyl coloured vinyl 5-track 12” EP. released on the UK label Cherry Red. The sleeve is designed by JG Thirlwell. You can order it in advance here. Official release date is 09.04.26.

Soft Cell + JG Thirlwell “Ghost Rider” Limited Twelve inch Single
Soft Cell is releasing a Limited Edition Colored Vinyl 12″ of their cover of the Suicide classic “Ghost Rider” with JG Thirlwell on guest vocals and Gary Barnacle on sax.
In 1983 and 1984 Thirlwell performed the song with Soft Cell live many times, and on the TV show The Switch in the UK. It was performed again for the first time in nearly 40 years at Soft Cell’s show at the Beacon Theater in NYC in 2022, which led to the recording of Ghost Rider for the first time with Marc Almond, JG Thirlwell and Gary Barnacle recording their parts over Dave Ball’s original backing track, all of which has been freshly mixed for 2025 by Dave and Philip Larsen.

JG Thirlwell guests with Soft Cell in NYC
JG Thirlwell guested with Soft Cell at their show at The Beacon Theater in New York City on Aug 30 2022. Soft Cell were playing in NYC for the 40th anniversary of their classic ‘Non Stop Erotic Cabaret’ album.
Thirlwell joined the group for a cover version of the Suicide song ‘Ghost Rider’ trading vocals with Marc Almond. You can see a video from the night here, and a video of them performing the same song back in 1983 here.
