Foetus album HALT in mixing stages

JG Thirlwell has been working with Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Z’s, Hubble) at Circular Ruin studios in East Williamsburg Brooklyn, mixing the final and ultimate Foetus album. Thirlwell remarks, “Ben is amazing, and the album sounds absolutely monumental and epic”. The album has been recorded over the last seven years at Self Immolation Studios at the Ectopic Ents HQ in Brooklyn, NY. As usual, Thirlwell has composed all the tracks and played all the instruments on the album, with special guest appearances from Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Timo Ellis (Netherlands, Cibo Matto), Brendon Randall Myers (Scarcity, Dither, Glenn Branca), Laura Wolf, Sami Stevens, Simon Hanes (Tredici Bacci) and Jake Baldwin. The album will be entitled HALT and is slated for release on November 5, 2025 on Ectopic Ents. Stay tuned.

JGT DJs with Drums & Drones

Screen Shot 2018-05-22 at 12.07.25 PMJG Thirlwell will be making a rare DJ appearance on Friday June 15 2018 at Mercury Lounge as part of a bill headlined by Drums and Drones, the solo project of Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Also on the bill are 13 Million Year Old Ghost which is the ambient the solo project of Nik Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, plus inter-disciplinary artist, and musician MV Carbon. Drums and Drones will have visuals from video artist Ursula Scherrer. Tickets are available here.

JGT and Ken Jacobs at Secret Project Robot

11206075_10153262718614869_2922718140188095537_nJG Thirlwell will provide a live soundtrack to underground film legend Ken Jacobs‘ Nervous Magic Lantern projections at Secret Project Robot on July 10 2015. The concert is part of the Secret Project Robot tenth anniversary celebration and the evening will also feature Din Machine , Collapsible Shoulder (featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs skinsman Brian Chase) and Rick Reed.

Transmissions / Assemble ensemble at Ace Hotel in NYC

assemble_v3 (1)JG Thirlwell will be participating in a Performance of RAFT’s Transmissions in A and E on October 19 at the Ace Hotel in NYC. RAFT is the project of Pat Noecker (These Are Powers, Liars, No Things). RAFT gathers performers from NYC underground + experimental music scenes, scatters them around a room, and sets them loose — creating a personalized, fully immersive music experience that alters depending where you’re standing. The performance, in it’s simplest form is 11 musicians working to sustain the notes of A and E.

For this performance RAFT will be joined by Camilla Padgitt-Coles, Dana Schechter, Melissa Moore, Rachel Mason, Sabisha Friedberg, Brian Chase, Daniel Schlett, Greg Fox, Pat Spadine and JG Thirlwell.
