The highly acclaimed new Manorexia album Dinoflagellate Blooms is now available on iTunes, Amazon and other major digital retailers. The 62 minute album contains 11 tracks. Only the stereo version of the album is available digitally. For the full effect, we recommend you purchase the physical version which includes both stereo and 5.1 surround sound versions. The album will not be available on Spotify or other streaming services.

JG Thirlwell guests on new Elysian Fields album

JG Thirlwell has guested on the track “Chance” from the new Elysian Fields album Last Night on Earth. JG will perform that track live as his long-time cohorts Elysian Fields play the new album in its entirety at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on June 14, complete with brass section and string section. Don’t miss this memorable evening. JG and Jennifer Charles from Elysian Fields last collaborated on the track “Thrush” from the Foetus album LOVE.

Manorexia "Dinoflagellate Blooms" surround sound album out now!

Ectopic Ents is proud to announce the release of the long awaited new Manorexia album, Dinoflagellate Blooms. The album features eleven compositions composed, produced and performed by JG Thirlwell. The package includes a CD of the album in stereo, and a DVD with the album in glorious, immersive 5.1 surround sound.

The album careens between soft plucked interludes to full blown symphonic frenzy, from musiq concrete nightmares to cinematic mindfields, with a meticulous marriage of samples and live instruments, distressed sounds and mysterious unknown quantities. You can hear previews of the album here.

Begun in Berlin in 2005, the album was recorded at Thirlwell’s Self Immolation studios in Brooklyn, and the 5.1 mixes were made at Harvestworks Studio with Paul Geluso. Manorexia will be performing in October 2011 with Portishead at All Tomorrow’s Parties event in Asbury Park, NJ.

Foetus "Here Comes The Rain" video released

The video for the track “Here Comes The Rain” from the latest Foetus album HIDE is finally completed and online for your viewing pleasure. The video was directed by Dan Ouellette and produced by Robert Nuell. Shot on location outside of New Paltz, NY and on a set built by Ouellette in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, the video’s director of photography was Sam Chase and it was edited by Logan Seaman. The girl in the video was played by Louise Sturcken and the goat was played by Hershey. You can also view it Vimeo, YouTube, and soon on Vevo.

 

Venture Bros Season Four Part Two out now on DVD

Venture Bros Season Four Part Two is now available on DVD. The disc contain eight episodes, including the double length season closer “Operation P.R.O.M.”, and is brimming with new scores by JG Thirlwell, as well as commentary on each episode by Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer. It is available at Amazon, the Adult Swim store and many fine retailers.

Blank City at the IFC Center NYC

The documentary Blank City is currently enjoying a successful theatrical run at the IFC center in New York. Directed by French newcomer Céline Danhier, Blank City weaves together an oral history of the “No Wave Cinema” and “Cinema of Transgression” movements. JG Thirlwell is interviewed in the film regarding his involvement with R.Kern’s Deathtrip Films and the Cinema of Transgression. It also features interviews with Jim Jarmusch, John Waters, Steve Buscemi, Debbie Harry, Richard Kern, Nick Zedd, Amos Poe, James Nares, Lydia Lunch, James Chance, Eric Mitchell, Susan Seidelman, Beth B, Scott B, Charlie Ahearn and many more. Clips featuring Thirlwell’s scores for Kern’s Deathtrip films appear in the documentary, along with many other illuminating extracts from the films of that era. Manorexia confirmed for Portishead ATP event in Asbury Park

JG Thirlwell’s Manorexia will be playing at the All Tomorrows Parties event curated and headlined by Portishead on Oct 2nd.

The event will span a three day weekend: Sep 30th, Oct 1st and Oct 2nd. Jeff Mangum (Ex Neutral Milk Hotel) will curate and play on the 30th. October 1st and 2nd will be curated by Portishead, and they will play both nights.

This event marks All Tomorrow’s Parties return to the USA in the new location of Asbury Park, N.J., bringing an “I’ll Be Your Mirror” event to the iconic Asbury Park waterfront. This will also mark Portishead’s first East Coast appearence since 1998.

Other acts confirmed over the weekend are Battles, the Pop Group, Swans, Deerhoof, Mogwai, Shellac, Bonnie Prince Billy, Ultramagnetic MCs, Beak>, A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Cults, Earth and many more.
