JG Thirlwell‘s Xordox project opened for The The at the gorgeous Beacon Theater in New York City on Sep 17 2018. The The’s date was in the middle of their Comeback Special tour, with The The head honcho Matt Johnson playing his first live dates in fifteen years.
For the Xordox set, Thirlwell was joined onstage by Simon Hanes on keys, and Sten Backman created the visuals that Xordox performed in front of.
JG Thirlwell‘s Xordox project will be opening for The The in Dublin on July 7 2018, as part of The The’s “comeback” tour. The The’s comeback dates coincide with the release of a triple album, Radio Cineola Trilogy : Cinema For The Ears. The The’s return to the concert stage has been hugely anticipated and dates have been selling out in minutes. JGT and The The’s Matt Johnson are long-time friends and colleagues.
The debut album by Xordox, Neospection, was released in July 2017 on Editions Mego. Tickets for the concert are available here.
The new DJ Food “The Search Engine” album is released this week in the US on Ninja Tune. This stunning album includes the track“Prey” featuring vocals by JG Thirlwell. The album will also feature Thirlwell compadre Matt Johnson, on a DJ food cover of a The The track “Giant”. It’s available from Amazon, ITunes, Bleep and other fine retailers. Nov 17 2011 marks the release of Magpies, Maps and Moons, the new EP by DJ Food. The EP includes the track “Prey”, a collaboration by DJ Food with JG Thirlwell. DJ Food wrote and performed the music, with lyrics and vocals by Thirlwell. Released on Ninja Tune, the EP will be on 12″ vinyl and download, and is a precursor to a new DJ Food album to be released on Jan 16 2012 (which will also include “Prey”). The album will also feature Thirlwell compadre Matt Johnson.
DJ Food also remixed the track “Suspect” on the album 2002 Foetus remix album Blow .
