JG Thirlwell joins Elliot Sharp and others performing Christian Marclay for Harvestworks

JG Thirlwell will be joining Elliot Sharp, Melvin Gibbs, Kalun Leung and Judith Insell in creating a live score for Christian Marclay‘s Screenplay. Screenplay is a video score in which found film footage is combined with computer animation to create a visual projection interpreted by live musicians. 

The performance will be part of an event honoring Carol Parkinson‘s 37 years as executive director of the NYC arts organization Harvestworks on the occasion of her retirement.

The program will also feature Henry Threadgill, a celebrated composer and saxophonist widely recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to avant-garde jazz and contemporary music, performing an intimate solo flute composition. In addition Lori Napoleon (Antenes) will give a live analogue synthesizer performance. The evening will conclude with a vinyl DJ set from Yo Vinyl Richie.

JG Thirlwell at the Marrakech Biennale

1424443_714226308617711_1148566667_nJG Thirlwell will  set foot for the first time in Morocco to perform at the fifth edition of the Marrakech Biennale. JGT will be performing his solo electro-acoustic project Cholera Nocebo on March 1, 2014.

In addition JG will be taking part in freq_out 10, the tenth installment of the freq_out sound installation, which will be executed in Theatre Royal in Marrakech. the particpiants for this edition of freq_out will include Maia Urstad, JG Thirlwell, Franz Pomassl, The Sons of God (Kent Tankred & Leif Elggren), Mike Harding, Christine Ödlund, Tommi Grönlund & Petteri Nisunen, leif e. boman, BJ Nilsen, Brandon LaBelle, Kamarstudios and Jacob Kirkegaard. The freq_out installation will kick off the Biennale on Feb 25, 2014.

JG Thirlwell at the River To River festival in NYC

2403A043A-B86B-400B-298D5CD6B41FF43AThe River to River Festival is “28 days of transformative, investigative art in unexpected places across Lower Manhattan”. JG Thirlwell will appear in two special events at the River to River Festival in New York this June. Firstly, on June 23, JG Thirlwell’s Manorexia will appear in concert at Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University on a bill with Pauline Oliveros and Susie Ibarra & Roberto Rodriguez. During the evening, Manorexia will perform  pieces from the Manorexia oeuvre including the premiere of a new arrangement of Plastic Island In The Pacific. This event is presented by New York Electronic Art Festival (NYEAF) and Harvestworks.

Secondly on July 11 the organization ((audience)) presents Manorexia: Dinoflagellate Blooms in glorious 5.1 sound at Tribeca Cinemas. RSVP is required for this event.

Also appearing at the festival will be So Percussion, Two-Headed Calf & Yarn/Wire, Laurie Anderson, Bang On A Can, Hauschka, Kosminen, and Zeigler, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Maja S.K. Ratkje, Mantra Percussion, Paola Prestini and much more.
