We are thrilled to announce to birth of JG Thirlwell‘s new musical project, Xordox. The premier release is an album entitled Neospection, which will be released on the Editions Mego label on June 30 2017 . Neospection is predominantly a synthesizer record, recorded at Self Immolation studios in Brooklyn, although it also includes overdubs of Buchla and Serge synthesizer created during Thirlwell’s residency at the legendary EMS Studio in Stockholm. The album features Noveller’s Sarah Lipstate on guitar on three of the eight tracks. You can stream the ‘single’ from the album, “Diamonds”, at Soundcloud.The CD and digital versions come with an extra track., the 16 minute long “Asteroid Dust”, and the vinyl version comes with a download code so the listener can have the whole album.

The newly formed duo of JG Thirlwell and Sarah Lipstate which debuted at The Stone in NYC in April 2014, will return to NYC for a pair of shows in October. They will play at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan October 2 , and at Saint Vitus in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on October 4. The latter show is a benefit for the David Lynch Foundation , which provides transcendental meditation training to those in need. Soft Pink Truth , the side project of Drew Daniel of Matmos, and JGT fave Dominique Leone are also on the Saint Vitus bill.

The duo of JG Thirlwell and Sarah Lipstate, which debuted with a rapturously received set at The Stone in NYC on 4/16/14, will make its second appearance at the New Media Art And Sound Summit in Austin, Texas on June 13. In this project, Thirlwell plays synthesizers and electronics and Lipstate (aka Noveller) plays guitar through a multitude of effects.
In addition, on June 14 at the same festival, JG Thirlwell will present a program of his chamber works using musicians from Texas. The program will include both old and new works, including a world premiere, and will be played by a string quartet consisting of Alden Doyle (violin), Laura Poyzer (violin), Stephanie Phillips (viola), Jen Mulhern (cello), with the addition of Brent Farriss on contrabass on several compositions. A duo of JG Thirlwell and Sarah Lipstate (Noveller) will perform at The Stone on April 16 2014 at 10pm, as part of the William S.Burroughs centennial celebration. This is Thirlwell and Lipstate’s first collaboration.
Sarah Lipstate is best known for her solo electric guitar project Noveller project. Noveller creates evocative soundscapes and compositions with layered guitar phrases and sounds, both played and looped live. Lipstate is also a filmmaker and film score composer, and has released five full-length albums on such labels as No Fun, Important and her own Saffron Recordings imprint. She has previously collaborated with the likes of Carla Bozulich, Lee Ranaldo and David Wm Sims, and has been a member of the groups Cold Cave, Parts & Labor, and One Umbrella.
