This performance will be the first time that Thirlwell has performed in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Cholera Nocebo<\/strong> <\/em>is a 50 minute electro-acoustic presentation, performed\u00a0 with software and sampling, autoharp, prepared piano and small electronic and acoustic objects and instruments. It is an immersive multi channel composition which allows for an elastic performance.\u00a0 It is performed with a projection\u00a0 of multiple time-lapse car journeys along the Long Island Expressway in NY which gives the illusion of hurtling into a void, culminating in footage that was shot in the blackout in Lower Manhattan which occurred in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which devastated NYC. The film was shot and edited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/geaphiles\/\"><strong>gea <\/strong><\/a>with additional footage by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viewwitharoom.tv\/\"><strong>Sebastian Mlynarski<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Conceived as a \u201cPangaea\u201d project, <strong><em>Cholera Nocebo <\/em><\/strong>is intended to be performed at least once on each continent. It has thus far been performed in Morocco at the Marrakech Bienale , Club Babylon in Istanbul, Stockholm at the \u201cArt\u2019s Birthday Party\u201d Festival, the Lausanne Film Festival, Cafe Oto in London and at the <strong>Dark Mofo<\/strong> Festival in Hobart, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>A 5.1 surround sound <em>Cholera Nocebo<\/em> album is being prepared for release on <strong>Ectopic Ents<\/strong> toward the end of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Supersense Festival will also feature performances by <strong>Master Musicians of Jajouka<\/strong>, <strong>Pussy Riot<\/strong>, <strong>Spiritualized<\/strong>, <strong>Blonde Redhead<\/strong>, <strong>Stephen O&#8217;Malley<\/strong>, <strong>Oliver Coates<\/strong>, <strong>Keiji Haino<\/strong>, <strong>Acid Mothers Temple<\/strong> and many more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JG Thirlwell will be bringing his Cholera Nocebo project to the city of his birth, Melbourne Australia, for the Supersense Festival on August 19 2017.
