{"id":6196,"date":"2017-02-13T14:28:59","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T19:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foetus.org\/content\/?p=6196"},"modified":"2017-02-13T14:28:59","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T19:28:59","slug":"jgts-great-learning-orchestra-commission-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.foetus.org\/content\/news\/jgts-great-learning-orchestra-commission-live\/","title":{"rendered":"JGT&#039;s Great Learning Orchestra commission live"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/foetus.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/GLO-Orangeri-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6197\" alt=\"GLO Orangeri web\" src=\"https:\/\/foetus.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/GLO-Orangeri-web-300x124.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"124\" \/><\/a>JG Thirlwell<\/strong> has been commissioned by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegreatlearningorchestra.se\/\"><strong>Great Learning Orchestra<\/strong><\/a> to create a 45 minute large scale compositon, which will be performed live on March 15 2017 at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sodrateatern.com\/jim-thirlwell-the-great-learning-orchestra\/\"><strong> Sodra Teatern<\/strong> <\/a>in Stockholm. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmvonhausswolff.net\/\">CM Von Hausswolff<\/a> <\/strong>will open the evening with a solo set.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Great Learning Orchestra<\/strong> is a collective of over one hundred musicians based in Stockholm, though the version of GLO that will perform with JG will be about 35 players in number. <strong>Great Learning Orchestra<\/strong>&#8216;s model is based on that of <strong>Cornelius Cardew<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Scratch Orchestra<\/strong>, combining musicians of varying abilities, from virtuosos to sound-makers. Their objective is to meet up to explore music with listening in the center. They work extensively with graphic, instructional and unconventional scores and the ensemble has a fluctuating size and instrumentation depending on the piece they are performing.
