{"id":5399,"date":"2015-06-09T22:30:19","date_gmt":"2015-06-10T02:30:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foetus.org\/content\/?p=5399"},"modified":"2015-06-09T22:30:19","modified_gmt":"2015-06-10T02:30:19","slug":"jg-thirlwell-scores-tony-oursler-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.foetus.org\/content\/news\/jg-thirlwell-scores-tony-oursler-film\/","title":{"rendered":"JG Thirlwell scores Tony Oursler film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foetus.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-19-at-3.16.03-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5397\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-05-19 at 3.16.03 PM\" src=\"https:\/\/foetus.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-19-at-3.16.03-PM-188x300.png\" width=\"221\" height=\"352\" \/><\/a><strong>JG Thirlwell<\/strong> is composing a new musical score to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tonyoursler.com\/\"><strong>Tony Oursler<\/strong><\/a>&#8216;s film project <strong><em>Imponderable<\/em><\/strong>, which opens at the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luma-arles.org\/program\/\">LUMA Foundation<\/a><\/strong> in Arles, France on July 6, 2015. <strong><em>Imponderable<\/em><\/strong> is a two part project composed of a book and film, based on Oursler&#8217;s personal archive of photographs, publications and unique objects, tracking a social, spiritual and intellectual history dating back to the early 18th century.<\/p>\n<p>The 4D film <em><strong>Imponderable<\/strong><\/em> gives voice to the archive, focusing on a small group of important images involving a very personal family story with very public characters; it explores the contrasting and overlapping belief systems implicit within his grandfather\u2019s engagement with the debunking of paranormal activity in the &#8217;20s.<\/p>\n<p>The book <em><strong>Imponderable<\/strong><\/em> spans 600 pages, with over 1200 full color images and 10 scholarly essays. The material covers a diverse range of topics including: spirit photography, stage magic, color theory, alchemy, satan worship, cults, hypnotism, pseudoscience, religion, angels, oracles, apparitions, electricity, auras, thought photography, UFOs, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>The film will show as a site specific installation at LUMA until September 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JG Thirlwell is composing a new musical score to Tony Oursler&#8216;s film project Imponderable, which opens at the LUMA Foundation in Arles, France on July 6, 2015.
