JG Thirlwell will take part in William S.Burroughs reading marathon presented by The Poetry Project as part of WSB100, New York’s month-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Burroughs, the iconic writer of Naked Lunch, Queer, Junky, and many other experimental works of great American literature. The event will take place at the sanctuary of St Marks Church in New York City, on April 23 2014, beginning at 8.30pm. JG will read with interpretive guitar accompaniment from Sam Mickens. Also on the bill are Anne Waldman, Bob Holman, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Matt Mottel & Kevin Shea, James Ilgenfritz, Jack Womack & Elliot Sharp, Iron Dog, Nick Zedd, Penny Arcade, Simon Pettet, Steve Dalachinsky and many others.
JG Thirlwell will be leading a conversation and Q and A with the legendary Genesis Breyer P-Orridge at an event on March 23 2014 at 2pm at the Rough Trade store in Brooklyn, NY. The event is to celebrate the publication of a new photographic book tracing P-Orridge’s life history. Genesis P-Orridge first rose to infamy as a member of Fluxus and Dada inspired performance art terrorists Coum Transmissions. He went on to form the highly influential Throbbing Gristle with Peter Christopherson, Chris Carter and Cosey Fannie Tutti. After their dissolution he formed the collective Psychic TV which were interested in fetish, magic and ritual. Genesis went on to transform his/her body as a devotee and exponent of pandrogeny, a ‘third gender’ project launched in the late 90’s with wife and life-partner, Lady Jaye, who died in 2007. At the event Breyer P-Orridge will also be signing the book and other related items on sale at Rough Trade.
JG Thirlwell has completed a remix for NYC experimental post-avant band Z’s. It will be released later this year by Social Registry. The release will also include remixes by Matt Shadetek from Dutty Artz, Zebrablood (aka Nathan from Excepter), Weasel Walter, Genesis Breyer P. Orridge, Gabe Andruzzi from The Rapture, Cex, and Matt Papich from Ecstatic Sunshine.
